Water Bottle Coozie Enhanced

Knitted a new water bottle coozie. Made the handle smaller. Had a patch made for Sharks AFL team I like. It does not use their picture which I am sure has a CW. Added some little gem studs around the patch.

Knitting with Double Pointed Needles is Fun

Currently knitting another water bottle coozie. It is red this time. I am an AFL fan. The name of the team I currently follow is the Jacksonville Sharks and their colors are red and black. I definitely want to felt a shark or a sharks fin on the coozie. If anybody out there has any tips / suggestions on how to do this, please don't hesitate to leave me a comment. I need to hurry and finish this coozie because I have another baby blanket to knit for a boy who is due in October.

Another Water Bottle Coozie

Started this water bottle coozie Friday the 13th. Finished it on Sunday the 15th. Very pleased with how it turned out. Want to felt images on coozie. But I am not quite sure how to do that yet. Before I experiment, I need to buy black wool yarn.

Car Blanket and Slippers

I wanted to use up some of the left over yarn I used to make the Car Blanket (pictured top left). So I went on Ravelry and did a search on Lion Brand's Wool-Ease Thick & Quick.  The pattern for the Baby Jane Slippers (pictured top right) was one of the patterns that popped up.

When I decided to knit these slippers, I began gathering my supplies together. It was at that point I realized I did not have the size 11 double-pointed needles. I went searching at Jo-Ann Fabrics and Michael's Crafts and could not find them there. So I went to the yellow pages searching for a knitting store and found "A Stitch in Time". I called them and they said they had the size 11 double-pointed needles in several different brands.

I went to the store and bought the size 11 needles made out of Birch wood. Why did I choose this over the Bamboo? Well, because the Birch was cheaper than the Bamboo. I also thought wood was wood and they should feel and act the same when knitting with them. I had no problems using them, however, the feel was quite different. It felt a little awkward as I was knitting. I do like the bamboo needles better because of this.

I made the small size. These slippers were quick and easy. Made the slippers in one day. When I knit another pair of these, I am going to make the next pair a medium so I can see the difference between the two sizes.

Water Bottle Coozie

I went with my husband to get tires from Walmart. While I was there I lost my coozie pictured on the right. It fell off the bottle of water and I did not notice.

So that afternoon when we got back home and I realized I had lost it I decided to make the one pictured on the left. I finished it on the 4th of April and Felted it on the same day. Notice the handle, I think this will prevent the cover from slipping off the bottle unnoticed. I used double pointed needles for the body of the cover and straight needles for the cord / handle.  I was not sure how it was going to turn out but was pleasantly surprised with the results.

Another Baby Blanket

I am currently waiting to hear what gender my niece's baby is going to be so I can begin making another baby blanket for her. The last one I made was pink and white because, yes, she was having a girl. I emailed her and I told her if it was a boy, of course I am going to knit a blue and white baby blanket. But if she has another girl I am going to use different colors. I am just not sure what colors I will use yet. I told her I was up for suggestions. In the meantime I have put my shrug in hibernation again and I am still working on knitting and felting hot pads for several people. I have many friends and relatives I would like to make these for.

Hot Hot Hot

I decided I wanted to make something different. This was different for me because I have never felted anything before. It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. When I finished knitting the hot pads after following the pattern, I had my doubts as to this project turning out to look like the pictures in the book. I was very pleased with the result and I will be knitting more of these for myself and others.

Shrug

I am currently trying to finish a shrug I began last year. It is currently 30 inches long. I have 14 more inches to knit. I am a slow knitter. Due to several friends, acquaintances, and relatives having babies,I have several times put the shrug in hypernation.

Beginner

Even though one may be old, you may still be new at many things, such as blogging. This is a new beginning for me on blogging about the items I knit and crochet.
